CANNOT MAKE IT TO SXSW? No worries. What Finnish city better represents Austin than ... Salo!

Salo/Turku Synapse
Time: 6-8 pm, Wednesday March 10, 2010
Place: Salo Business Center, Örninkatu 15, Salo

There has been many requests to host a MoBB synapse in both Salo and Turku. As Salo recently opened its own Protomo, it feel natural to start the cooperation there. We hope that people from Turku can come to Salo for this time. We'll be happy to host one also in Turku, please volunteer to host and sponsor.

If you want to pitch, please contact Petra (at) mobilebrainbank.org

Startup Talkoot is a weekend-long event organised on the 13th and 14th of March, where ideas and early-stage potential businesses will be worked on by enthusiastic students and researchers under the guidance of experienced mentors and entrepreneurs - people amongst the best in Finland. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your idea or join an actual team over an intensive weekend, and you might notice afterwards that the whole really has some potential!

The point of the weekend is to do some concrete work on an idea that you've already pitched or might even have worked on already, or it could be on an idea that you've been bottling up but want to test for viability. We have teams present at the beginning to see what the baseline is, and then at a few intervals during the weekend to see how they've progressed and get some discussion going for input from other teams. The weekend is capped off on Sunday with final presentations about how far the ideas have been developed, after which all participants get to "invest" in the other teams - a great learning experience in itself.

Startup Weekend is a gathering of 100 - 150 people passionate about technology and startups for a 54 hour marathon. The event starts with anyone pitching an idea; the crowd then votes on the best 10 or so ideas and teams are formed to work through to Sunday night. Many real startups have come out of the 65+ events that have run in 14 countries. The event is fun, energizing and it's a fantastic, risk-free way of trying your hand at entrepreneurship.

Startup Weekend is a weekend event in cities around the world. A highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more meet and in a short 54 hour event work on building projects out. It is very much like an unconference, where the attendees show decide the outcome of the experience.
The weekend is fun, mentally simulating and always profitable (2 of those are true)! It starts Friday at 6pm and finishes up Sunday at 6pm, the hours in between are up to the community. Startup Weekend gets everyone in the same room, sometimes clothes and always feeds. What is next is really up to the people that show up, it is your drive and passion that will lead the weekend.

Proactum Open Meet Up is a unique open source networking event that brings together people interested in the present state and development of open source. We launched the first Meet Up in May 2009 and in the future we will organise the casual and cosy events on a regular basis.

The next Proactum Open Meet Up will be held on Tue 13th of April 2010.

This time we'll have a great pleasure of having Ubuntu Specialist Timo Jyrinki sharing his knowledge of the current state of Ubuntu developement. Come to listen to his ideas and share yours or ask questions that you've been wondering. The event is sponsored by SME Foundation.

Proactum Open Meet Up is free of cost. Three drinks will be provided for those that have pre-registered and two drinks for those that show up in the bar.

Registration is easy; just send e-mail to yhteys @ proactum.fi and join the event! And pass the word to your colleagues; there is always time and space for one more interesting discussion and one more cold pint.
